Songbird Media Player Screenshot Preview

Songbird Media Player Screenshot Preview:

" Let the buzz machine begin! Now that the developers of Songbird have released a few screenshots to tease digital music enthusiasts, people are getting giddy at the prospect of an open-source, cross-platform Windows Media Player or iTunes music player alternative.

For a while now, amaroK has been shaking things up in the Linux world with its seamless Wikipedia integration for band info and full lyric downloads, but the creators – who have previously worked on Winamp 5 and Y! Music Engine – think that building Songbird on top of Mozilla Foundation's XULRunner platform for easy cross-platform (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux) function and UI development is the way to go. On top of that, the developers are building relationships with digital media network services like eMusic, Last.fm, and Odeo to bring users new content and social networking features (there's even talk of Songbird supporting Firefox like extension add-ons in the future).

Windows users can expect a beta version in December with Mac OS X and Linux ports following early next year.
